HICD 2020 Launches Youth Engagement Initiative
The USAID/Georgia Human and Institutional Capacity Development 2020 Activity (HICD 2020) recently launched the Youth Engagement Initiative in Georgia and conducted its first outreach session with students from Ilia State University. The aim of this HICD 2020 initiative is to raise the awareness of young people regarding Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) as a structured method for organizational development.
HICD 2020 staff also see it as an opportunity to share the unique experience of the project’s service providers. In this session at Ilia State University, Eka Gvinjilia from PMCG and Eka Katamadze from GEC delivered presentations on HICD programs that they have developed. Additional youth engagement sessions are scheduled at various private and public universities throughout Georgia in 2017.
USAID’s HICD approach focuses on enhancing the performance of organizations and institutions in partner countries to improve their ability to deliver services and achieve development goals. It involves a systematic process to assess capacity gaps, design interventions, and implement tailored solutions that strengthen human resources, organizational systems, and institutional frameworks. The HICD approach helps ensure sustainability by building local capacities for ongoing development and improvement.
The objective of the HICD 2020 project is to achieve tangible improvements in the human and institutional capacity of USAID’s strategic partner organizations in Georgia, including governmental, non-governmental, and for-profit entities. ME&A implements the HICD 2020 Task Order contract under USAID’s Human and Institutional Development (HICDpro) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, which was awarded to ME&A in November 2013.
